The purpose is to define the role of IGF-I in the mechanisms of large intestine inflammation with an ulcerative colitis (UC).
Material and methods. Surveyed 35 patients with varying severity of UC in the dynamics of treatment. Determination of insulin-like growth factor IGF-I in peripheral blood and cytokine TNF-a in mononuclear cells was performed by ELISA. The cellular composition of the inflammatory infiltrate of the mucosal lamina propria was studied.
Results and conclusion. It was found that during the exacerbation of ulcerative colitis, the IGF-I content in peripheral blood was reduced, and TNF-α synthesis was increased. The content of IGF-I in the serum of patients was inversely dependent on the severity of UC, the degree of inflammatory reaction in the SOT and the production of TNF-α by mononuclears. The formation of clinical remission of UC was accompanied by an increase in the production of IGF-I and a decrease in the synthesis of TNF-α.
