Abstract. COVID-19 is a global problem, the solution of which is possible only through vaccination.
Purpose: to assess the predictive value of vaccination in relation to the course of a novel coronavirus infection and its outcomes.
Material and methods. A comparative analysis of the clinical course and outcomes of COVID-19 was carried out among vaccinated (n=69) and unvaccinated patients (n=32) treated in the «Covid» hospital of the Republican Cardiology Dispensary of the Ministry of Healthcare of Chuvashia (RCD) from January to December 2021.
Results. Vaccinated patients were less likely to be hospitalized in RCD, which indicates a more favorable course of COVID-19 in vaccinated patients. Unvaccinated patients were 2,5 times more likely to be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and 3,8 times more likely to die at the hospital stage.
Conclusion. Vaccination against COVID-19 does not exclude infection with a new coronavirus infection, but significantly reduces the risk of a severe course of a new coronavirus infection, admission to a hospital, intensive care unit, and, most importantly, significantly reduces the risk of death.
