The aim of the research was to determine the effectiveness of individualized combined rehabilitation programs for patients with connective tissue dysplasia at home throughout the year.
Material and methods. The study included 59 patients with various manifestations of connective tissue dysplasia aged 18 to 42 years. Each patient was selected an individual complex of aerobic activity, taking into account the preferences of the patient for performing 3–4 times a week for 40 minutes, exercises to strengthen the muscles of the back, abdomen and limbs for performing 3–4 times a week for 20–30 minutes, as well as medication support if desired by the patient. Control studies of subjective status, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, quality of the life were carried out three times: at the beginning of the study, after three months and a year later.
Results. In patients of two groups, depending on the shape of the chest and the types of hemodynamics – asthenic (n=30) or pseudodilation variant of the thoraco-diaphragmatic heart (n=28) – unidirectional significant positive shifts in the functioning of the cardio-respiratory system were obtained. An increase in the end-diastolic volume of the left ventricle, shock output with a decrease in tachycardia and a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance, ensured the maintenance of minute volume at a sufficient level, which indicated to the beneficial effect of physical training on the cardiovascular system. Confirmation was the increased numbers of indicators of physical performance according to the PWC150 test – 13 and 19%, respectively, in two groups.
Conclusion. An analysis of the data obtained at the end of the individualized combined rehabilitation program for patients with connective tissue dysplasia at home during the year showed the effectiveness of using a complex of aerobic physical exercises in combination with exercises to strengthen the muscles of the back, abdomen, limbs and medical support. High compliance of the study participants was ensured by taking into account the wishes and preferences of each patient in choosing rehabilitation means.
