Modern approaches to the treatment of patients with acute tonsillopharyngitis

The review deals with the analysis of current guidelines for the treatment of acute tonsillopharyngitis (OTF). It is noted that antibiotic therapy is strictly indicated only when OTF caused by β-hemolytic streptococcus group A (BGSA). Given current algorithms, allowing the doctor to conduct a differential diagnosis between OTF of viral and bacterial etiology. The features of the use of drugs of first choice in the treatment of OTF BGSA-caused are described, according to Russian clinical guidelines. The authors draw attention to the fact that macrolide resistance is a major problem in the choice of therapy of BGSA-induced OTF. The most common errors in the treatment strategy of BGSA-OTF, that are the main causes of unsatisfactory results of the prescribed treatment.
