Pheochromocytoma is a rather rare hormone-active tumor arising from the adrenal medulla and extraadrenal chromaffin tissue. It produces a large number of biologically active substances, including adrenaline, norepinephrine and dopamine. Hyperproduction of catecholamines determines the main clinical manifestations of pheochromocytoma: arterial hypertension syndrome of varying degree of severity and diverse metabolic disorders. Therefore, patients with pheochromocytoma are often having the diagnosis of arterial hypertension, while its treatment is fundamentally different. For effective medical care, patients with pheochromocytoma need early diagnosis of this disease.
Current clinical case exactly introduces the data of pheochromocytoma patient who was previously observed and treated as a patient suffering from arterial hypertension.
