Relative cardiovascular risk in young patients with connective tissue dysplasia

The aim of the study was to determine the features of the formation of the general cardiovascular risk (CVR) in young patients with connective tissue dysplasia (CTD).
Material and methods. We examined 134 patients with CTD at the age of 18–39 years and 115 persons without CTD, comparable by sex and age. Indexes of systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and the fact of smoking were determined as components of the relative CVR according to the corresponding scale.
Results. Patients with DST due to more intense smoking had a significantly higher risk of developing adverse cardiovascular events than patients without DST, even at a young age and in the absence of a significant blood pressure increase and lipid metabolism disorders.
Conclusion. It is necessary to proceed further studies of mechanisms o nicotine dependence formation in patients with DST.
