Prevalence and possibilities for early diagnosis of cardiovascular autonomous neuropathy in patients with coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes

For the early diagnosis of cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in patients with coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus Holter ECG monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring with an assessment of heart rate variability and blood pressure were performed. CAN was diagnosed in 43% of patients. At the same time, the decreased heart rate variability in 70% of patients without any changes in the blood pressure variability indicated the preclinical stage of CAN. The features of the multifocal lesion of the coronary bed in patients with comorbidity in the presence of CAN were revealed.
