Abstract. Osteoporosis is a chronic systemic disease of the skeleton, characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of its quality, which leads to increased fragility of bone tissue. In recent years, due to the understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease, significant therapeutic advances in the treatment of osteoporosis have been made. Despite the availability of many therapeutic medicaments to reduce the risk of fractures, osteoporosis remains a global problem in aging population in many countries, and the burden of osteoporotic fractures remains high, affecting the quality of life of suffering persons. This is connected first of all with comorbidity of osteoporosis and other diseases in senior age groups persons.
