The level of awareness of beginner district therapists about the management of patients with primary osteoarthritis

Abstract. The need for the complex use of medicinal and non-medicinal methods of treatment in the treatment of primary osteoarthritis (OA) is currently beyond doubt. The results of a survey of 54 district internists (work experience in the specialty is on average 1 year) are analyzed. Therapists give recommendations to the patient on lifestyle changes only in 44.4% of cases, weight loss – in 74.1% of cases and the need for exercise – in 98.1% of cases. 64.8% of the surveyed doctors recommend various orthopedic devices to patients with OA. Therapists widely use drugs from the SYSADOA group, however, in every 3rd case, these drugs are prescribed a short course.
