The purpose of the study was to identify diagnostic significance of endothelin-1 (ET-1) level definition in patients with liver cirrhosis in connection with portal blood flow and central hemodynamics.
Material and methods. ET-1 level was studied in 115 patients with liver cirrhosis (LC).
Results and conclusion. There was an increase in the values of ET-1 in LC, compared with the control group. The direct connection of ET-1 increase with the activity and degree of liver functional insufficiency and portal hypertension was established. The connection of ET-1 with five types of portal blood flow was found. The greatest changes were observed in hyperkinetic and pseudonormokinetic types, which are considered to be the most unfavorable. In patients with LC revealed the relationship between changes in ET-1 and the number of parameters of central blood flow.
