Current review focuses on the aspects of diagnosis and management of patients with acute arterial blood pressure elevation (BP) in accordance with current clinical guidelines. The differences in approaches to the management of patients with complicated and uncomplicated hypertensive crisis in Russia and abroad are discussed. Special attention is paid to the choice of oral and intravenous antihypertensive drugs, the rate of decline and target values of blood pressure in various clinical situations, as well as possible errors in the treatment of urgent and emergency conditions in case of arterial hypertension.
